This web application explores the symmetry relationships between the 32 crystallographic point groups. Symmetry descending pathways are highlighted between selected (and related) point groups. Results are first calculated assuming the commonly applied (and very frequently followed) framework of maximal subgroups (where intervening groups are not jumped) and then more direct descents are given which can be made through non-maximal (and minimal) subgroups.
